Judges’ summer holidays not connected to govt –Inu
The government has no relation with the judges’ summer holidays, including the Chief Justice, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said.
The minister, told journalists after inaugurating `Children’s painting competition on birth anniversary of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Sheikh Kamal’ at the DU Faculty of Fine Arts in the capital on Friday morning.
The journalists asked whether the upcoming long vacation to be availed by the Chief Justice has any relation with the government , Inu said, ” The judges’ summer vacation is a regular subject matter of Judiciary and in no way related to government decision. ‘
In the ceremony, the minister paid his tributes to Bangabandhu and his family and said, it was the children portrayed the Father of the Nation and his family out of their love. Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born on 8 August 1930 and Sheikh Kamal, their eldest son was born on 5 August 1949.
In reply to other queries, Inu said, “Honorable Chief Justice has initiated the debate on the 16th Amendment, not the government. And he is welcome to consider stepping down to resolve the debate and uphold the image of judiciary.’
On 16th Amendment verdict, the minister reiterated his Thursday statement, `The government is monitoring the legal process of reviewing the faulty and unacceptable judgment and review of the verdict.’
In the presence of competition organizers Bangladesh Marshal Art Confederation’s general secretary Hasan-uz-Zaman Moni, veteran artist Samarjit Roy and Nisar Hossain, the minister visited the paintings of more than 100 children and gave congratulatory letters and medals to the special children.
