The 8th anniversary of death of peace movement leader Ali Aksad will be observed today.
Ali Aksad, the President of the Bangladesh Peace Council, a chapter of the World Peace Council, died in 6 March, 2009 due to Pnuminia at the city’s Square Hospital.
His family members will place wreath at his grave at the Martyr Intellectual Graveyard at Mirpur today.
Ali Aksad, also a journalist and writer, worked in daily Ittefaq and daily Sangbad.
He was a famous columnist in the name of Dipankar in Sangbad.
He was a close associate of the Father of the nation, Bangabandhu. On 12 October 1973 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman was given the Julio Curie medal from the World Peace Council, initiated by Ali Aksad.
He was the editor of the political Bangla magazine Prashanga for many years.
